This hook was a real beauty! I picked it up with the intention of using it for a hand towel or washcloth, but unfortunately those pieces just wouldn’t stay put. I contemplated sewing loops into the cloth pieces so they’d fit the hook properly, but eventually decided to return it instead. If you’re looking for something to hold robes or items with loops, this is the perfect one for you. It’s quite heavy and looks like it’s made from quality materials. I hate to rate it 3 stars, but it wasn’t designed for hand towels.

When I first looked at this hook/hidden bracket assembly, it seemed like a simple job. But when I went to install it flush on the wall, I noticed that the bracket “ears” were too wide for the set screw clamp. This meant that I had to grind some of the hook housing’s inner wall so it would fit. Unfortunately my steady hand wasn’t up to the task, and I ended up nicking the chrome edge. The chrome plating job wasn’t perfect either, but it looks good when stuff is hung on it. All in all, it wasn’t as straightforward as I expected for something so seemingly simple.

I ordered three of these modern-looking fixtures for my bathroom, but unfortunately, I had some hiccups. The tightening screw at the bottom is pretty tough to work with, so the fixture was a bit loose – not quite the sleek look I wanted. What’s worse, one of the three wasn’t threaded properly, so the tiny screw stuck out. If you don’t use the right screwdriver, you might end up with a scratch on your wall like I did!

You actually have to leave the wall mount kind of loose for the hook to slide in. Tightening the screw underneath doesn’t really help either. Installation took me a lot longer than I wanted and returning it is too much effort. Whoever designed this clearly didn’t try it out first. But how did this get such good reviews? Did I just get a dud?
