I gave my stairs a good scrub and left them to dry overnight. Installing the new stair treads was relatively straightforward – even though they were advertised as ‘non-skid’. Let’s just say they were no match for my big yellow Labrador Retriever! On his first pass, he managed to move nine of the thirteen treads. After resetting them, he made short work of seven more. Reusing the adhesive mentioned in the product description has proven impossible so far. If you like a challenge and don’t mind constantly resetting your stair treads, this might be the product for you – otherwise it’s probably best to look elsewhere. Oh, and don’t even attempt to use a vacuum cleaner while they’re in place!

Our stairs were super slippery without any treads, so we got to work finding the perfect ones. We measured and re-measured our stairs several times, read the specs and compared them to make sure we got the right size. Finally, these ‘MBIGM 8″ X 30″ (15 in Pack) Non-Slip Carpet Stair Treads Non-Skid Safety Rug Slip Resistant Indoor…’ fit like a dream! Putting them down was easy – just like big stickers. To make sure everything looked even, I used a measuring tape to mark the walls. The adhesive on these treads is very forgiving, so if anything went wrong I could easily fix it up.
The look of the treads is kind of industrial and not great for decoration, but they would look amazing if you like the post-industrial style. Plus, they felt kind of light – not as hefty as our old treads which were half the size but twice the weight. But they might be tougher than they look, only time will tell.
The most important thing though is that they make the stairs much safer. If you have smooth stairs without any treads, I totally suggest this set as it takes minimal effort to put them down and gives a lot of traction.

I ordered the red ones and they turned out to be a burgundy color – so happy with it! Installation was a breeze. I prepped the step, peeled off the backing, and stuck them on – easy peasy. As another reviewer mentioned, I made two “L” shaped cardboard stencils which really aided in keeping the treads consistently spaced. All I had to do was measure where I wanted it centered, then place an “L” in each top corner and I was good to go! The only issue I had was that the treads are 30 inches long and were shipped folded in a smaller box, resulting in a few having a small crease that won’t stick as well to the step. Despite this, they look fantastic and I wish I would have bought them sooner!

Unless you use double-sided carpet tape, which will add another $20 to your purchase, there’s a chance that dust will work its way underneath the treads, causing them to slip suddenly and undesirably. And, judging by some of the reviews the product has had, it’s probably not worth the risk. So if you want to be safe, just listen to our advice – get something else!

But here’s the thing: after waiting two weeks for delivery (it got delayed by a week), cutting them to size and taking half an hour to install them, they just don’t stick well enough. There are multiple spots where the carpet is already lifting from the floor. The colour and the quality of the carpet is nice, but unfortunately, the adhesive isn’t there. If it was stickier, I think this would be a great solution.

When I needed treads for my stairs to make them safer for carrying my 13 month old granddaughter and for my 89 year old mom when she visits, I was a bit hesitant to try these, especially because of the reviews saying they look flimsy and cheap. But after I opened the box I knew they would be right up my alley – not too pricey and with self-adhesive backing! As I was installing them I kept rearranging to make sure they were even, and the adhesive held up great while I peeled them on and off without any damage to the stairs. I’m a bit worried about tossing them in the washing machine but we’ll see how it goes.
My only complaint is that the company folded them in the box, which created a kink down the middle that’s still there. I hope it fades away eventually, otherwise that could be a bit of a hazard. If I could, I’d give these 4.5 stars!

I looked into these and they worked great; sticking well, easy to remove and re-stick, and when removed you can’t notice anything on the stairs. Plus, they buffer sound from my steps – which is great. Vacuuming them isn’t the most fun part, but let’s face it – vacuuming stairs can be a pain no matter what! I use a hand vacuum, it’s a bit easier. I wanted to try washing them in the machine, but haven’t found instructions on how to dry them without ruining them. So I’ll just stick with vacuuming for now. They’re really soft on bare feet and look better than I expected. No extra products like tape were needed to keep them securely in place. All in all, I’m really pleased with them!

Unlike the tape-like material I’m used to, these have a rubbery backing to hold in place. And trust me, they don’t budge – no matter how much my pup and I are running up and down. The fact that I don’t have to spend hours getting them just right is an added bonus. If a rug slips out of place, I can just pop it back into position.
Once I’ve given them a good wash to get rid of all the dog hair (vacuums just don’t cut it!), I know they’ll look good as new. I also love the size – bigger than many of the other stair mats I looked at.
Some reviews mentioned that the rugs arrived as a folded half – which had them worried. But mine weren’t sharply folded, and any bumps that were there soon disappeared after a week of walking on them. Now, you’d never know they were folded!

I’m so happy with this product! It sticks to the stairs really well and is super easy to use. I did a double vacuum, washed with Swiffer for Wood, rinsed and dried and then used a microfibre cloth to get everything dry and remove any small specs. The treads were so simple to place – I just eyeballed the locations and they look amazing. I don’t know how they will wear yet, but at this price I’d be willing to renew them like area rugs every year. Update One Year Later: These have done great! They still look perfect and never slip. This is such a great solution for slippery hardwood stairs!

I’m loving how these stair treads stay in place without slipping. I was a bit worried when I saw the backing wasn’t super sticky but turns out that’s a good thing – it won’t damage the stairs and there won’t be any unsightly adhesive left behind (like what we had to scrape off from the previous owner). We chose a nice deep red and even got a small runner for the landing. I got an extra box just in case my cat decides to use them as a scratch pad. Luckily, the price was reasonable so I can just replace them with no fuss. I’ll update this review in about a month to see how it goes.

I recently noticed that my dogs were having difficulty coming up and down the stairs. I had to find a solution, so I found these wonderful carpet treads! They’re so affordable and they look great once laid down. The adhesive isn’t too strong, so it may be best to add extra strong adhesive if you have kids. I didn’t need it because the carpet is only slightly deeper than my steps. Instead, I just used a brown marker to line the white edging – easy peasy! I’m really happy with my purchase.

These stair treads are great for pets and people on slippery steps! You can use carpet tape for extra security, but they’re stable without it. They’re not exactly beautiful, but hey, basement steps don’t have to look pretty, right? The red color is really nice, kind of like a movie star’s red carpet! They were the same size, shape, and color, which isn’t always the case with stair treads. The treads were folded in their packaging, but they flattened out quickly once we put some heavy books on them! If you’re using carpet tape to secure them, I recommend having two people – one to put the tape on and the other to position the tread. It took us about 30 minutes to do 13 stairs! I deducted a star because they were folded in packaging, and also because they’re a bit utilitarian looking.

I’m absolutely delighted with how easily I installed these stair treads. They have stayed put on my wooden stairs for more than a month, despite lots of feet walking on them daily and a thorough weekly vacuuming. I got these treads to help give my aging doggie more stability on the stairs- and it worked! She’s been happily trotting up and down the steps with much more confidence. If I could suggest something to the company, it would be to provide a template for easier installation so everything is perfectly lined up. Using just a few 3×5 cards, I was able to install the treads on my twelve steps in about 10 minutes. I gave only four stars in ”œEasy to Clean” only because I haven’t had to clean beyond vacuuming yet. But they are definitely clinging to the stairs like no other! For the quality of life they’ve given my sweet pup, they’re worth every penny. Plus, I feel safer on my staircase now too- since we never wear shoes indoors!

I recently tried these carpet stair treads and they couldn’t be any easier to apply. I was using them on a set of stairs that were freshly painted, so I gave the steps a good wash first. Each tread comes with a peel-off backing that reveals the sticky tape underneath. I was very happy with the result, except for one corner on one stair which didn’t quite seal properly. Thankfully, I had one extra tread with 14 steps, so it all worked out in the end. The carpet is surprisingly soft and feels great under your feet, despite the sturdy and industrial look. They cover almost the whole step too!

You can also move them around if you need to and they’ll make sure to stay in place. Just make sure the stairs are clean before applying – no oil-based cleansers, just water. The decals come bent, so just leave them out with a book on top for a day so they can flatten. I definitely recommend them – my coworker is using them too and loving them!

Honestly, I wouldn’t want to take them off to wash – I don’t think they’d stick too well afterwards. I got these tiles in a small package, so each strip was folded over. That caused them to not be flat on the floor. Give it some time and they’ll look like new! The sticky stuff on the back doesn’t actually stick them to the ground, but just prevents them from shifting when you walk over them.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by how reliable the grip was – and even better, they don’t have that overly sticky back either. I have since removed the mats, deep cleaned the stairs, and replaced the mats with ease. We’ve been using the mats for 2 months now with no issues. It’s even advertised that you can wash them, though I’m not sure if I trust it too far – still, it’s nice to know the option is there. At any rate, I highly recommend these mats.

Our new carpeted stair treads are perfect for our pup’s post-knee surgery needs – they stick well to our laminate stairs after a couple of weeks. Aesthetically, however, they didn’t quite turn out as planned – the lines are a bit crooked and not parallel with the edges of the tread. If you want something top-notch, it might be worth investing in something higher quality, but these will do the job in the meantime.

When we first got these, it was for safety-our wood stairs were a bit slippery and hard to spot in the dark. Then one of our family members became disabled, and we were so thankful to have them around. I can definitely recommend these if you have wood stairs.
Cleaning is usually a spot clean or vacuum job. But after a year, I had a mess that couldn’t be fixed with those methods. I was worried that the sticky backing wouldn’t stay if I washed them, but I took the plunge and threw them into the washing machine with detergent on a gentle cycle (17 minutes). Then I hung them up to dry (which took another hour). After they were completely dry, they stuck right back on the stairs like before. Washing them too much could wear them out eventually, so I suggest avoiding it unless necessary.
